Arabic parts (also called Arabic lots or Hermetic lots) are sensitive points in a birth chart calculated from three factors: usually the Ascendant plus two planetary positions. They originated in Hellenistic astrology and were transmitted through medieval Arabic-language texts, which is how they got their modern name.

The 7 Hermetic Lots form a complete system. Each lot is tied to one of the seven visible planets and illuminates a specific dimension of life. Together they offer a panoramic view of your chart that goes beyond ordinary planet placements. The Part of Fortune and Lot of Spirit are the most widely known, but the remaining five lots add crucial detail about desire, obligation, boldness, success, and trials.

Each Hermetic Lot is associated with a classical planet and reveals a distinct life theme. The Part of Fortune (Moon) shows material luck and bodily circumstances. The Lot of Spirit (Sun) shows willpower and conscious purpose. The Lot of Eros (Venus) shows desire, love, and creative passion. The Lot of Necessity (Mercury) shows duty, obligation, and fate's constraints. The Lot of Courage (Mars) shows boldness and initiative. The Lot of Victory (Jupiter) shows success and achievement. The Lot of Nemesis (Saturn) shows tests, hardship, and growth through difficulty.
