What is the Lot of Wealth (Part of Wealth)?

The Lot of Wealth, also called the Part of Wealth or Lot of Riches, is a calculated point that marks where a chart concentrates property and material standing. It is built from the Ascendant, the cusp of the 2nd house, and the ruler of the 2nd house, the planet that manages your money, and it reads wealth as a significator of a topic the way the 2nd house governs possessions, rather than as a forecast.

One thing to settle first: this is a significator, not a net worth. The Lot of Wealth does not tell you how much money you will have, and no chart can. Read it for the texture of your relationship to possessions and it earns its place. Treat it as a promise of riches and it becomes superstition. It belongs to the wider family of Arabic parts (lots), sensitive points derived from three positions in the chart, and you can compute it next to the rest with the Arabic Parts Calculator.

Lot of Wealth vs Assets, Substance, and Fortune

Search the open web for a wealth lot and you will find four different points blurred under one set of names. Keeping them apart is the reason to use more than one. The Lot of Wealth on this page is the medieval Part of Substance, built from the Ascendant, the cusp of the 2nd house, and the ruler of the 2nd house. It reads the standing inventory of a life: property, movable goods, and how well the chart's own money-house manager governs them.

The Lot of Assets is derived from the Part of Fortune and reads resources as fortune delivers them, the luck side of money. The Lot of Substance uses Firmicus' Jupiter and Mercury projection and reads the earning engine, how you generate and grasp a livelihood. The Part of Fortune itself is the master lot of the body and overall material well-being. Run all four and you get the full picture: what fortune hands you, how you earn, what you hold, and the body that carries it.

Two notes on the math. We use one formula day and night rather than reversing it by sect, the convention most modern Part of Wealth calculators follow and one consistent with the Lilly horary tradition. The house-based construction itself descends from the medieval Arabic Parts lists (al-Biruni), and some traditional sources do reverse the two terms between day and night charts, so a sect-reversed table will land on a different degree. And because it leans on the cusp and ruler of the 2nd house, your house system also moves the result. This calculator works in whole-sign houses, the Hellenistic default, so the 2nd house is the second sign from your rising sign and its ruler is fixed and unambiguous. Quadrant systems such as Placidus can push the 2nd cusp into a different sign, which changes the cusp and sometimes the ruling planet, so a Placidus Lot of Wealth can land in a neighboring sign. Both run the same formula in different house frames.

Reading the Lot of Wealth, and the ruler of your second house

Start with the house, which carries the most weight. It tells you the arena of life through which your material standing tends to gather, whether that is partnership, career, family property, or quiet behind-the-scenes resources. Then read the sign for the style of your relationship to money, the way you acquire, value, and hold.

The piece most readings skip is the ruler of your 2nd house. The formula is built from it, so its condition colors the whole lot. A 2nd ruler in its own sign, angular, and aspected by benefics describes a money-manager in good shape; the same ruler buried in the 12th, retrograde, and squared by Saturn describes one working uphill. Look at where that planet lives, what dignity it holds, and who it talks to before you settle on a reading. When you want to see the moments the point comes alive, the Lot Activation Map tracks transits to the degree and the years your 2nd house and its ruler are emphasized by profection. Treat that timing as one input among many rather than a promise about a given year.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Lot of Wealth in astrology?

The Lot of Wealth, also called the Part of Wealth or Lot of Riches, is a calculated point that marks where a chart concentrates property and material standing. It is built from the Ascendant, the cusp of the 2nd house, and the ruler of the 2nd house, and you read it by sign, house, and the condition of that ruler. It is a significator of your relationship to possessions, not a measure of how much money you will have.

How is the Lot of Wealth calculated?

The formula is the Ascendant plus the cusp of the 2nd house minus the ruler of the 2nd house, reduced by 360 if the total runs over. You take the arc from the 2nd-house ruler to the 2nd-house cusp and project it from the rising sign. An exact birth time and a stated house system are both required, because the lot depends on the 2nd cusp and the planet that rules it. This calculator computes it in whole-sign houses.

Is the Lot of Wealth the same as the Lot of Assets, Substance, or Fortune?

No, and the differences matter. The Lot of Assets is derived from the Part of Fortune and reads the luck side of resources. The Lot of Substance uses Firmicus' Jupiter and Mercury projection and reads how you earn a livelihood. The Part of Fortune is the master lot of the body and material well-being. The Lot of Wealth is the only one keyed to the 2nd house and its ruler, so it reads what you actually hold.

Does the Part of Wealth change between day and night charts?

Not in this calculator. Unlike the Part of Fortune, which reverses its terms for night births, we present the Part of Wealth with one formula for day and night, the convention most modern calculators use. It descends from the medieval Part of Substance rather than from the Lot of Fortune. Some traditional sources do reverse it by sect, so a sect-reversed table will land on a different degree.

Does the Lot of Wealth mean I will be rich?

No. It is a symbol of how your chart relates to possessions and which arena of life your material standing gathers in, read as an available pattern rather than a prediction. No single point promises money, and the placement is one input among many in an honest reading. Use it to understand your relationship to resources, and treat any tool that promises riches as entertainment rather than astrology.

How is the Lot of Wealth different from the 2nd house?

The 2nd house is a whole region of the chart governing money and possessions. The Lot of Wealth is a single derived degree, built partly from that house's cusp and ruler, that can land in any house. It focuses the broad 2nd-house theme down to one sensitive point you can profect and track by transit. Reading the house and the lot together is more informative than reading either alone.

How do I interpret my Lot of Wealth result?

Start with the house, which shows the arena your material standing gathers in, then read the sign for the style of your relationship to money. Finish with the ruler of your 2nd house, since the lot is built from it and its condition colors the whole reading. For timing, the Lot Activation Map shows when transits and profections bring the point forward.
