2022 Ephemeris

An ephemeris is a table of where each planet sits in the zodiac for every day of a year. Read down a column to follow one body through the signs, or read across a row to see the whole sky on a single date. Astrologers use it to find exact positions, sign changes, and retrograde stations without casting a full chart.

Each cell gives a planet's position as degrees, a sign glyph, and arcminutes, so 25 Capricorn 18 means 25 degrees and 18 arcminutes of Capricorn. A retrograde mark beside the figure means the planet is moving backward through the zodiac that day. The date runs down the left column, and the planet glyphs head each column across the top.

The Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Chiron, and the North Node, given at 12:00 UTC each day. Each month also carries a short summary of that month's sign ingresses, retrograde stations, New and Full Moons, and eclipses so the turning points are easy to spot.

Positions come from NASA JPL's DE440 planetary ephemeris, referred to the true equinox of date, the same standard professional software uses. Practical accuracy is within a fraction of a degree, finer than any chart reading needs.

The Moon travels about 12 to 15 degrees a day, so it changes sign every two to two and a half days, while the outer planets can hold one sign for years. That is why the Moon's column shifts on every row and Pluto's barely moves down the page.
