No. Selena is a calculated point on the Moon's orbit, the same way Black Moon Lilith and the lunar nodes are calculated points. It is not a physical body and you cannot observe it in a telescope. It is treated as a meaningful location in the ecliptic because the Moon reaches it every month.

In the Avestan / Russian school where the interpretive tradition originated, Selena represents accumulated good karma carried forward from past lives, spiritual protection, and the grace that makes certain life areas feel unfairly easy. In practice, Selena shows where things work without your having to force them.

True Selena (the point opposite true Black Moon Lilith) is closer to the actual lunar perigee and is the calculation we will default to once True Lilith ships in the underlying service. Today we default to Mean Selena for parity with the Lilith calculator's active variants. The h56 point exposed by some older tools is neither Mean nor True; Swiss Ephemeris documentation describes it as a hypothetical point of 'obscure provenance' and we do not recommend it as your working Selena.

Not by default. Most chart software (including Astro.com's standard chart) omits Selena from the default wheel. You have to add it manually, usually by selecting the Additional Objects table and choosing h56 (if the software exposes it) or by calculating the point 180° opposite Mean or True Lilith yourself. This calculator does the math for you and shows the result with both sign and house.

The tradition is strongest in Russian-language astrology (Pavel Globa, Sergey Vronsky, and the Avestan school). It has crossed into English-language astrology through a smaller set of writers including Leah Whitehorse, Annie Heese at Cafe Astrology, and a handful of independent practitioners. It is still a specialist point.
