What is the Lot of Eros?
The Lot of Eros is the Venus lot among the seven Hermetic Lots. Where the Lot of Fortune shows material circumstances and the Lot of Spirit shows willpower, Eros shows what the soul reaches for: the objects of desire, the creative impulses that compel you, and the style of attraction you embody.
In Hellenistic cosmology, Eros was not merely romantic love. It was the cosmological force that draws things together, the gravitational pull between the soul and what it yearns to create, possess, or unite with. Plato's Symposium describes Eros as a daemon, a mediating spirit between mortal and divine. The lot named after this force marks where that yearning concentrates in your chart.
How the Lot of Eros is calculated
For a day chart: Ascendant + Venus − Spirit. For a night chart: Ascendant + Spirit − Venus. The formula uses the Lot of Spirit as an input, which means Eros is a derivative lot. It depends on Spirit, which in turn depends on the Sun, Moon, and Ascendant. This chain of dependency is meaningful: desire (Eros) is shaped by purpose (Spirit), which is shaped by the fundamental conditions of your birth.
