Almuten Figuris

The Almuten Figuris (literally 'winner of the chart') is a medieval technique for identifying the planet with the most essential dignity across your chart's five most important points: the Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Part of Fortune, and the prenatal lunation. Think of it like an election where each key position in your chart casts votes for whichever planet has dignity there, the planet that wins the most votes across all five positions becomes the Almuten. It is scored by adding up essential dignity points (domicile, exaltation, triplicity, bounds, and face) at each position, plus bonuses for being the day ruler or hour ruler. The Almuten often differs from your chart ruler and can reveal a planet whose influence pervades your life in ways you might not expect from the Sun or Ascendant alone. Medieval astrologers like Ibn Ezra considered it one of the most important factors in chart interpretation.
