Domicile

Domicile (also called rulership) is the highest form of essential dignity. When a planet is in the sign it rules, it's like being in your own house with your own furniture, your own kitchen, and your own rules -- everything works the way you want it to. Mars in Aries, Venus in Taurus, Jupiter in Sagittarius: these planets express themselves naturally, powerfully, and without compromise. A planet in domicile doesn't need to adjust or negotiate. It has complete authority over its environment, giving it the strongest possible score (+5) in the essential dignity system. Each of the traditional seven planets rules two signs (one diurnal, one nocturnal), except the Sun and Moon, which rule Leo and Cancer respectively. Modern astrologers assigned Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto as co-rulers of Aquarius, Pisces, and Scorpio, though traditionalists still use Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars. A domicile planet acts with confidence and self-sufficiency -- it doesn't need favorable aspects to do its job well.
