Life Map: Your Rites of Passage Preview
Enter your birth date to see the three slow thresholds that shape almost every life: the Saturn return, the Uranus opposition, and the nodal return, plus the era you are in now and the next threshold ahead. Birth time is optional and is not needed for accurate dates.
What a life map is
A life map is a timeline of the slow outer-planet thresholds that almost everyone meets at roughly the same ages, anchored to your own birth date. The Sun, Moon, and inner planets move fast and personalize a chart, but the rites of passage on this page come from the slowest movers, so they fall in a predictable band of years for any birth chart. That is why the map reads as a shared human rhythm rather than a daily horoscope.
Each date here is calculated from real ephemeris positions, not from a fixed age table. Saturn, Uranus, and the lunar nodes each speed up and slow down, and they retrograde, so the exact crossing for your chart can sit a year or more away from the textbook age. The calculator finds the actual contact dates for your birth date and marks which ones you have already passed, which one is active now, and which one comes next.
The three rites of passage
The Saturn return happens when Saturn comes back to the place it held at your birth. Saturn takes about 29.4 years to orbit the Sun, so the first return lands near age 29, the second near 59, and a third near 88. It is the most widely recognized of these passages and is usually read as a move into a more accountable chapter of adult life.
The nodal return tracks the lunar nodes, the two points where the Moon's path crosses the ecliptic. The nodes complete a full cycle in about 18.6 years, so a nodal return recurs near ages 18 to 19, 37, 56, and 74. It is read as a reset of direction and what you are growing toward, and the late-fifties nodal return often overlaps the second Saturn return.
The Uranus opposition is the midpoint of the Uranus cycle. Uranus takes about 84 years to orbit, so near age 42 it reaches the point directly opposite where it sat at birth. It is the threshold most often described as a midlife reorientation, when the question of what is genuinely yours tends to surface. The Uranus cycle calculator shows the full set of Uranus contacts if you want the squares and the return as well.
Why birth date is enough
Saturn, Uranus, and the lunar nodes move slowly enough that their longitude barely shifts across a single day. The date a rite of passage becomes exact is therefore stable whether you were born at dawn or at midnight, which is why this map asks only for your birth date. Birth time matters for the angles, the house each rite falls in, and faster placements, but it does not change the contact dates shown here.
If you want the deeper layer, a free account opens Astro Replay, which expands these thresholds into a full chapter map: the time-lord periods that frame each rite, the transits that built and closed them, and the dated evidence behind each chapter. You can also cross-reference the slower outer-planet hits with the life-stage transits calculator.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a life map?
A life map is a timeline of the slow rites of passage that almost everyone meets at roughly the same ages: the Saturn return, the Uranus opposition, and the nodal return. It plots which of these you have already passed, which one is active now, and which threshold comes next, anchored to your own birth date.
Do I need my birth time?
No. Saturn, Uranus, and the lunar nodes move slowly enough that their position barely changes across a single day, so the dates of these rites are accurate from your birth date alone. Birth time only matters if you also want the house each rite falls in or the faster placements, which a full birth chart adds.
When is my Saturn return?
Saturn takes about 29.4 years to orbit the Sun, so the first Saturn return lands near age 29, the second near 59, and a third near 88. The calculator computes the exact contact dates for your chart from real ephemeris positions, accounting for retrograde passes that can shift the window by several months.
What is a nodal return?
A nodal return happens when the lunar nodes come back to the signs they held at your birth. The nodes complete a cycle in about 18.6 years, so a nodal return recurs near ages 18 to 19, 37, 56, and 74. It is read as a reset of direction and what you are growing toward.
How accurate are the dates?
Each date is computed from real ephemeris positions rather than a fixed age table, so retrograde passes are already accounted for. The dates are reliable for the slow bodies on this map. The exact day a rite feels strongest can still vary by chart and by the orb you read, which is why the map highlights an active window rather than a single fixed day.
What does the full Astro Replay add?
Astro Replay expands these three thresholds into a complete chapter map. It adds the time-lord periods that frame each rite, the transits that built and closed each chapter, and the dated evidence behind every chapter, so the preview here becomes a full life timeline you can scroll through.
