Kwei

Kwei, meaning 'Spectre' or 'Ghost,' is the sixth Chinese sieu, corresponding to stars near the Beehive Cluster in Cancer. Ruled by Venus, this mansion carries the uncanny quality of spirits and apparitions, blending the beautiful with the unsettling.

The ghost imagery connects to the thin boundary between the visible and invisible worlds, and to the ancestors whose influence continues to shape the living.

Kwei belongs to the Red Bird palace, where the spectral quality represents the fiery spirit's capacity to illuminate what is normally hidden. In Chinese tradition, ghosts are not simply frightening but are honored ancestors and spiritual presences that require proper reverence.

The seven sieu of the Red Bird trace the magnificent firebird from its wings through its body to its tail, forming the most radiant of the four celestial animals.
