Last Quarter

Moon Phase

The Last Quarter phase occurs when the Moon is 90 degrees behind the Sun, again half illuminated but now waning. This is a second crisis point -- not of action, but of consciousness. Old structures, beliefs, and commitments get questioned. If the First Quarter asked 'will you push forward?', the Last Quarter asks 'should you keep carrying this?' It's the moment you look at a closet full of clothes you haven't worn in years and realize most of them can go. What no longer aligns must be released to make space for the coming New Moon. There's quiet courage here -- letting go takes as much strength as building. In traditional practice, the waning square was associated with pruning, composting, and turning soil. Those born under this phase are natural revolutionaries, questioning the status quo and dismantling what has outlived its purpose. As a transit, the Last Quarter favors clearing clutter, re-evaluating commitments, and preparing ground for fresh beginnings.
