Birth Time

Concept

An accurate birth time is essential for calculating your Ascendant (Rising sign), house cusps, and the Moon's precise position. Without it, roughly one-third of your chart remains unknown, you can still learn a lot from your planets and signs, but you are missing the architecture that organizes everything. Because the Ascendant changes sign roughly every two hours, even a difference of a few minutes near a sign boundary can shift it, significantly changing the chart's interpretation. Birth times can usually be found on birth certificates or hospital records. If you do not know your exact time, many astrologers use a noon chart or whole-sign houses as a reasonable starting point.
