Sect

Sect divides charts into day charts (Sun above the horizon) and night charts (Sun below the horizon). Each sect has a team of planets: the diurnal sect includes the Sun, Jupiter, and Saturn, while the nocturnal sect includes the Moon, Venus, and Mars. Planets in their preferred sect express their positive qualities more easily, while planets contrary to sect tend toward their more difficult manifestations. Sect is arguably the single most important traditional concept for understanding how benefics and malefics actually function in a specific chart.
